A deep-dive & review of Nansen - finally an AI powered research and execution platform for crypto

I've been spending some time researching different crypto-AI platforms. Most were bland and didn't offer much more than Claude, but I recently started using Nansen and was very satisfied with how the platform worked and how it combined research with execution, which is something the other platforms (Dune, Messari, etc) lacked.

Here's the deep dive and review.

For years, onchain analytics was effectively a spectator sport. Nansen, Arkham, Dune, Lookonchain, etc all got really good at showing you what the whales were doing or who was accumulating or dumping, but then you'd close the tab, open a DEX, & act on it a step late in another app (or make a Reddit post and get some karma). Enter Nansen, the first platform that actually built the bridge to research then execute in one flow.

So what is Nansen? The tl;dr is they are a blockchain & ai research company. Their core skill is labeling. They put names on wallets, (over 500 million labeled addresses), so instead of staring at anonymous 0x......, you're reading named actors: this exchange, that market maker, this specific wallet that was early on the last five winners. They founded in 2019, they're backed by Accel & a16z (I'm not a fan of VC capital in token products, but in token-less research & AI it makes a lot of sense), & the analytics run across roughly 25 chains.

Being a DeFi maximalist, Smart Money is the tool I found the most interesting. It's a curated set of labels for wallets with a proven track record, consistent realized PnL, early entries into things that worked, & you can watch what that cohort is accumulating or exiting in close to real time, sort any token by which of them hold it, & set alerts for when they move. I found it especially helpful to track what protocols the smart wallets were using in DeFi & yield farming, as for many yield farming activities, being early matters most before everyone dilutes each other.

When I'm researching a protocol, my first question is whether sophisticated capital is actually positioned in it or whether the whole thing runs on retail fumes, & Smart Money answers that in about two minutes. This is also invaluable fr checking the "credibility" and a proxy for security of a defi protocol. Obviously, it's a dyor thing, but it creates a short list of the projects to dyor on.

In January 2026, Nansen shipped an execution layer which I think will completely revolutionize onchain analytics. They added AI trading built directly into the research product. You can prompt it in plain English, it pulls the relevant onchain data, & you can execute right there. Swaps run on Solana & Base through Jupiter & OKX DEX, cross-chain routing through LI.FI, & a Hyperliquid integration for perps. Arkham runs a separate exchange next to its analytics, & plenty of tools bolt a swap widget onto a dashboard, but Nansen is the first to put AI-driven execution inside the research flow itself.

I love the research & I think this is the most important thing they've built, because it shows they understand what onchain data is becoming. Information isn't meant to be something you look at, but rather something you act on.

To keep this an honest review, the execution side is young. It launched this year, it covers a handful of venues so far, & the AI agent is early, so I'd treat it as the direction they're building rather than a finished terminal. The direction is right & nobody beat them to it, but I'm sure there will be bumps and iterations along the way as it continues to be built out.

Another thing that i really liked when researching nansen itself was their pricing models. Previously, Nansen's top tier used to cost four figures a month, around $1,299, & the whole category was priced like a Bloomberg terminal for funds. Today it's two options, free or Pro at $49 a month, & at that price serious onchain intelligence is genuinely accessible to regular users, which is amazing for retail. I could also envision them barbelling pricing later with $10-20 tier for the casual who wants one signal without a $49 commitment, & a $100+ tier for desks & power users who'd gladly pay more for higher limits, eliminating the $50 tier but adding more features. Cover both ends & they'd pull users from every competitor at once.

The rest of the platform is deeper than one post can cover. Token God Mode is interesting for dissecting any token's holders & flows (valuable for traders, which I am not), wallet & PnL profiling, an AI analyst you can ask questions in plain English (though this is similar to what Claude or Surf can do), portfolio tracking, & a Points program for subscribers.

I also want to call out I think it's super bullish they don't have a token. They won't extract from retail and there is no alignment problems. (Post for another time, but I do like Venice's approach to AI compute, $VVV, and $DIEM, but that's really hard to get right). For a primarily research & execution company, a token would only further complicate things.

So yeah, Nansen is now a core part of my research & I use it to know what the smart money actually believes, & the execution layer tells me they're building for where this space is headed instead of where it's been. The research is deep, the price finally matches something a normie like me can justify spending.
