TRIP REPORT: going on a bitcoin spending spree in Austin, TX: tacos, haircuts, coffee, jiu-jitsu, fresh pecans, and so much more

There's this guy on Stacker News who came to Austin for a poker tournament (and a wedding?) and is doing his best to spend bitcoin everywhere he goes -- and writing daily reports about it. It's very cool to hear about someone spending bitcoin for so many different goods and services.

Some highlights:

I said I’ve got kind of a weird question… will you accept bitcoin there? “Oh sure I accept bitcoin…” a bit hesitantly. He said it had been a while and only one other person (a repeat customer) had done it. I asked if he used square and he said yes. “That should take care of us” I assured.

“Yo pago con bitcoin!” I said. Which is a bit broken, but she understood. And she was excited! No one had ever done it before she said. I didn’t talk about bitcoin too much but just explained how some square terminals allow it and some don’t. Another successful lightning transaction, I knew, would make my tacos taste much better. They didn’t need the help though… they were soooo good.

I arrive at the gym 10 minutes before class time. I didnt bring a rash guard so I needed to buy one and told the guy over the counter as much. I asked if I could pay for both with bitcoin and he was a bit hesitant. “I think so” he said. He’s showing me the options for rash guards that are hanging on the racks when I see a box on the floor with some orange and black material inside. The box is labeled “b-coin”

Are these rash guards?! I ask
Oh yeah, they are. You want one of those?
Uuuuh YEAH. He pulls one out and shows it to me and it’s AWESOME.

Here's links to his full trip reports, they are pretty fun reads!
